My daily reading diet consists mostly of the Washington Post, N.Y. Times and the San Francisco Chronicle online. I’ve long been a news and politics junkie, so I pay particular attention to the editorials and columnists. My favorites are Tom Friedman and Paul Krugman, but I usually read them all to hear differing views.

As far as blogs go, the only one I’ve ever read regularly was Dan Froomkin’s White House Watch. Its no longer in the Post, but White House Watch kept me sane during the Bush years and was a nice diversion in the old cubicle. The sites that have interested me and that I am now spending more time on are Huffington Post, Salon, and Politico.

Every Christmas my mom sends me a gift certificate from Borders. Today as I went for my seasonal book shopping I figured I would make a few selections to help me bone up on writing about finance. I picked Tom Friedman’s Hot, Flat, and Crowded to get a contemporary perspective from someone I respect. I also decided to finally read Ayn Rand’s novel Atlas Shrugged. Its one of those books that I’ve heard a lot about over the years and it seems to have a devout following among global financial conspiracy types. Please feel free to leave an opinion if you’ve read either of the two.
