Made for Zoey's second birthday. Her Mom suggested this sweater made by SouleMama as something she might like. I didn't have the pattern for the Zimmerman sweater so I made it up as I went along, basing it very loosely on the Green Zebra Baby Sweater I made for Billie James. The lace stitch is

The sprayer on my kitchen sink broke a few days ago. Today we got around to going to Lowes and picking up a replacement nozzle. It cost around $6. * The repair took a whole 5 minutes, a large portion of which was spent looking for a screwdriver.
First, just make sure the water isn't running. I d

As you may or may not know, Edgehill House is home to three cats. I haven't yet taught them to use the toilet, so we go through quite a lot of cat litter. It comes in a large (non recyclable) plastic bin most of the time, and sometimes we get it in the slightly smaller plastic jug. I hate to throw stuff away, and I have accumulated about a thousand empty Tidy Cat Bins. Fortunately I have discovered plenty of uses for them, and I thought I would share them with you.

The highlight of my vacation was our last stop on the way home, at the Flatwoods Outlet Mall. I knew that the Fiesta Outlet was hosting their annual Seconds Tent Sale, because I follow HLC on Facebook. I'm not saying I planned my entire vacation around the event, but there was a reason we left on Thursday - so we would be passing through Flatwoods on the first day of the Tent Sale!A little more than halfway through the line to check out at the sale!I only purchased one crate of stuff, and

I didn't have the pattern for the Zimmerman sweater so I made it up as I went along, basing it very loosely on the Green Zebra Baby Sweater I made for Billie James. The lace stitch is called Fancy Trellis and I found it in my Reader's Digest Guide to Needlework (thanks Aunt Norma). The buttons are from Jo-Ann's, Zoey's Grandma Pat and Grandpa Stan helped me decide which ones to g

First, just make sure the water isn't running. I didn't have to shut it off under the sink because of where the sprayer hose is connected. If your sprayer operates without the faucet being turned on, then you probably have a fancier sink than I do, a

It’s not often that I feel the desire or the need to talk publicly about my personal beliefs. I’m not an obsessively private person – I regularly utilize very public communication channels like Facebook, Twitter, and the like – I’m not terribly careful to censor what I post there, and I’m generally not very concerned about who reads it or how it might make them think differently of me.
I might occasionally post an interesting article I come across that deal

Our broccoli grew, almost overnight, into bunches of tasty goodness!Always ready with a sharp pocketknife, Keith harvests our first broccoli crown of the season. The banana pepper plant we bought at Aldis is verily bursting with peppers. Anybody want some? SERIOUSLY! They aren't particularly hot, but they are delightful. Our garden bounty turned into supper. One homemade whole wheat pizza crust brushed with garlic oil and topped with asparagus, tomatoes, onions and mozzarella (from the grocer) a

We went through 3 bundles of firewood. Making a fire is an essential ritual when we go camping, and we had very little trouble with it this trip, as it didn't rain and we had plenty of dry wood. Menu planning wasn't seriously considered, I only packed a couple cans of beans, some stew, one package of weenies and trail rations. We roasted weenies for every meal except lunch on our big hike day. Next time, I am going to bring some vegetables!Carson gave us a Coleman campstove, and man, was it

Our Sunday hike was a fantastic, almost 6 mile round trip jaunt that took us from the campground, up the steep and challenging Raven Rocks trail...to this lush and scenic vista atop Raven Rock...to Buck Knob, the highest elevation in the forest (3855 feet!) where we sat on this fallen tree to eat our lunch (and then climb a little)...along the top of the ridge via the Rich Mountain Fire Trail, where we encountered this crazy snapped-in-half tree that looked like it could come crashing down at an

Kumbrabow is in the heart of West Virginia, about a hundred miles south of Morgantown. We took the Scenic Route, Route 250, through Grafton, past Philippi, and then Rt 33 to Elkins, where we stopped for lunch at Hardees. Neither one of us had eaten at a Hardees in maybe 6 years, so the guilt was not too much to eat a hamburger and onion rings. And boy howdy, were those onion rings good! Big slices of real onion batter dipped and fried crispy right then, we had to wait 5 whole minutes, but the
